The short film Strings (originally Cuerdas, Solís, 2014) constitutes a privileged object of analysis for reflecting on school inclusion and human dignity. Its narrative explores the potential of empathy and pedagogical creativity, through the friendship between two children, Maria, a so-called normal child, and Nicolás, a child with severe cerebral palsy.
This text translates into a critical review of the short film Strings, developed from the perspective of a student in Basic Education and future teacher. The reflection starts from the relationship built between the characters to analyze the importance of empathy, acceptance of difference, and the role of the school in promoting inclusive practices. With the principles of Inclusive Education as a guiding thread, the text articulates the narrative of the work with Decree-Law No. 54/2018 and with the need for initial teacher training focused on respect for human dignity and the appreciation of diversity. The aim, therefore, is to highlight that inclusion depends not only on individual initiative, but also on ethical, pedagogical, and institutional commitment to building a school that is truly for everyone.
